A few years ago, I visited Brazil visiting a couple of cities (Rio de Janeiro and Salvador). This trip was interesting but I spent more time in Salvador than Rio de Janeiro so I've decided to take another. My recent trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (June 2021) was an amazing experience filled with adventures across the city and immersed in the everyday life of Brazilians. Although I was in Brazil during High Covid Alert, this didn't affect the trip. The city was completely open from tourist attractions, beaches, restaurants, nightlife and mingling with the locals which they are very friendly. During my stay in Rio, I rented an apartment (3 Bedrooms and 2 baths with jacuzzi) in Copacabana near Posto 5 which was one block away from the beach. In this specific area, I was close to everything I needed and wanted.
Each day, I explored a different area in Rio de Janeiro from Ipanema, Leblon, Lapa, to Madureira which is a predominantly Afro-Brazilian community. This specific community enhanced my experience of enjoying afro cuisines, live samba music, and of course, the nightlife was beyond amazing. Madureira is a highly recommended community to check out if you want to break away from the typical Rio de Janerio scene.
Overall, I had a great time in Rio and enjoyed the experiences. Not sure when I will be back but I am open to exploring other cities along the coast of Brazil. Who knows, I may stop by to check out Carnival 2022.
