Podcast Episode - 6 Types of Black Men Travelers
Now traveling is back in full swing, there has been an influx of new and old travelers specifically black men exploring the world.
As an avid world traveler, I have come across a variety of travelers with interesting backgrounds and personalities. Each has a unique reason to travel rather it is for leisure, business, exploration, escape, or whatever. However, I have compiled a list of black male travelers that I normally come across.
Here are the 6 Types of Male Travelers:
Weekend Warrior: The Weekend Warrior is the guy who comes to party no matter what the costs - "Money ain't a thing!" He makes sure to stay near the party scene and prefers the typical tourist attractions. There is no time to sleep and he wants to squeeze in as many activities before he boards the plane. Always on the go and doesn't have to be concerned about the little issues and rather focus on the good time.
Explorer: The Explorer is the guy who is methodical and has fully planned out his trip making sure he covers every place. He is an adventurer and wants to stay away from tourist destinations. He takes pride in exploring the unknown and surrounding himself with locals. He is more inclined to live among the locals via Airbnb as well as make an effort to speak the country's language. An adventurer who is open to something new and different. More of a risk taker, enjoy the unknown.
Content Creator: The Content Creator is a traveler who showcases his content on a variety of digital platforms ie websites, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. He is either a Weekend Warrior or Explorer. He enjoys recording and providing narratives of his travel experiences. Creating content is the primary object of his travels so he is methodical in planning out his activities and having the right equipment to capture the experience. He tends to stay in the know and could be a great resource for travel intel.
Digital Nomad: The Digital Nomad is the guy who works remotely overseas. He typically spends between 3 months to a year at a specific destination. He prefers to move around the country but makes sure he adequately has internet service to perform his professional duties. He tends to be a contractor and enjoys the freedom of working from any location. During his off hours, he participates in local activities and prefers to live and act like a local while having a high salary income sustaining his lifestyle while in the country.
Expat: There is a level to this and being an Expat is the pinnacle of traveling. An Expat has completely moved out of the United States and has the resources to reallocate to another destination where the cost of living is cheaper and the quality of life is better. An ex-pat is a retired professional (military, public, and private sector). He wants to enjoy his golden years and doesn't care to live in the United States. Most ex-pats live peacefully overseas and will start a business, families, or enjoy a mature bachelor's life.
Monger: The monger travels strictly for sex. He doesn't care to participate in any cultural activities. He is primary objective is to have sex with as many women as possible. Costs matter and he tends to be cheap with his lodging and entertaining options. He prefers to keep a very low profile and strictly focus on meeting women for sexual endeavors.
Those are the 6 types of travelers that I have come across during my travel. I can't place judgment on any type of traveler. I've come to accept that not every person you meet is traveling for the same reasons. Whatever your reasons, Happy Travels!
